Parent Teacher Guild

The Dayspring Parent-Teacher Guild (PTG) is what many schools would call the PTO or PTA. Noah Webster defines guild as “a society, fraternity or company of people associated for some purpose or like interest.” The PTG is called a guild because of a “like interest” in the equipping of children. The PTG focuses on actively engaging all DCA families in the life of the school.

Mission/Purpose

The PTG exists to support the mission of Dayspring Christian Academy to equip students and to provide opportunities for parents to grow in their knowledge of the Principle Approach and its application to the Christian home and school.

Activities

  • Enlists parent partner support for the school in a variety of areas
  • Provides peer encouragement and accountability in partnering with the school
  • Facilitates healthy forums of dialogue between parents and school personnel
  • Provides continuing education opportunities for parents
  • Hosts key meetings throughout the year
  • Oversees a coordinated parent prayer effort for the school

Membership

Every parent or guardian, who has a child in Dayspring Christian Academy, as well as every teacher, is automatically a member of the PTG.

Involvement

The fulfillment of Dayspring’s mission depends on the generous gifts of time, talents, and treasure given by friends and families. There are many ways to be involved in making Dayspring Christian Academy the best school it can be.

Individual families, as members of the larger DCA community, are responsible to fulfill these basic requirements:

  • Participate in at least two fundraising events each school year.  Participation in an event equates to fulfilling a role in the Parent Partnership Program (see guidelines) or by fulfilling the qualification criteria set up for each event (communicated prior to each event).
  • Attend the Back-to-School Orientation at the start of school each year
  • Attend the parent-teacher conference in the fall each year (and others as needed)
  • Attend the annual Towne Meeting in January

Beyond these basic requirements, there are opportunities for involvement through the Parent Partnership Program (P3) which bring added blessings to the families who participate, some of which include tuition credits (see Parent Partnership Program guidelines for more details).
